Tombstone's Annual Rose Festival 2026: Celebrating the World's Largest Rose Tree

When most people think of Tombstone, Arizona, they picture dusty gunfights, saloons, and the legendary OK Corral. But every spring, the "Town Too Tough to Die" reveals a softer, more fragrant side — and it all centers on one of the most remarkable natural wonders in the world: the Lady Banksia Rose Tree, recognized by the Guinness World Records as the largest rose tree on Earth.

What Is the Tombstone Rose Festival?

The Tombstone Rose Festival is an annual spring celebration that honors the blooming of the world's most famous rose tree. Planted in 1885 by a Scottish immigrant, this incredible Lady Banksia climbing rose now covers over 8,000 square feet of trellis at the Rose Tree Museum on 4th Street. Each April, thousands of creamy white blossoms burst into bloom, and the town comes alive with festivities to mark the occasion.

Event Details: April 10–12, 2026

This year's Rose Festival runs from Friday, April 10 through Sunday, April 12, 2026, with activities beginning at 10:00 AM and wrapping up at 4:30 PM. The festival takes place throughout Downtown Tombstone on historic Allen Street (311 E. Allen Street, Tombstone, AZ 85638), and is organized by the Tombstone Vigilettes.

What to Expect

The Rose Festival weekend is packed with entertainment, arts and crafts vendors, food, live music, and of course, the stunning view of the rose tree in full bloom. Stroll along Allen Street and soak up the unique atmosphere of a Victorian-era town transformed by springtime color. Local artisans, photographers, and history enthusiasts gather to share the beauty of Tombstone's gentler side with visitors from across the country.

Don't miss the chance to visit the Rose Tree Museum itself, where you can learn the full story of this botanical marvel and see how far the branches extend across the outdoor courtyard. April is one of the most beautiful times of year to visit Tombstone — the desert weather is mild, the skies are brilliant blue, and the rose tree is at its most spectacular.

Plan Your Visit

Tombstone is located in Cochise County in southeastern Arizona, about 70 miles southeast of Tucson. Whether you're making a day trip or staying for the full weekend, there's plenty to see and do beyond the festival itself. Book your accommodations early — spring events tend to fill up local hotels and bed & breakfasts quickly!

This is a free event, making it a perfect family-friendly outing. Come experience the softer side of the West's most legendary town and see why Tombstone is about so much more than outlaws and gunslingers. We'll see you on Allen Street!
